Furnas is well known for its thermal waters, including the boilers, the pool of Beija and thermal pools. Furthermore the crater are known by the hotel Terra Nostra consisting of a pool of natural thermal waters and a magnificent botanical garden, and even tourists can also visit the natural park where there are some animals and some species of plants. It is also at Furnas where you can find a pond (crater lake).
They are also traditional and exclusive from Furnas, the lêvedos cakes and you can also enjoy the famous stew (the meat takes about 5 to 6 hours and codfish about 3 to 4 hours) in the boilers with its refined taste. Birthplace of the Azores tourism, Furnas have one of the largest and most diverse collections of botanical islands. |
