During several days in the summer, the streets of Cacela-Velha are
invaded by the exotic atmosphere of North Africa, in front of the
Ria Formosa Natural Park.
In the centre of the village, in the traditional Arab market, it is
possible to purchase Oriental products and spices, make a henna
tattoo or appreciate the work of artisans that sell jewellery,
pottery and tapestries.
The restaurants serve Arab gastronomy tidbits and in every
corner, visitors will encounter snake charmers, cartomancers and
also belly dancing and Moroccan folklore shows that complement the event.
The days and nights of the Enchanted Moor, transport Cacela-Velha back to the days of
Arab occupation, between the 10th and 13th centuries.
